Ian and his team go above and beyond to give amazing service. I want to give specific praise to Christian S. As a Realtor, my clients are the ones who hire contractors during their inspection. Christian took the time to answer my questions at the sewer inspection and to provide additional information. In the end, his explanation helped the parties move through negotiation to create a resolution the homebuyers and sellers could agree to. Ian and his team at Down Low Services were fantastic. Several other companies couldn't figure out how to scope our sewer line, but Ian came in, diagnosed the issue quickly, and got it done right which allowed our home sale inspection move forward without further delay. Not just for storm and sewer pipe inspections! They used their time and equipment to find and rescue our two year-old kitty!

We actually called out of desperation late Saturday evening, June 20, 2026. Our two-year-old indoor cat got outside, and the last sighting during the ensuing chase, was from one of our neighbors who saw her run into a storm drain. It was determined the drain was the length of a football field, and ended at a manhole covered location that emptied out into a ditch at the edge of Martin Reservoir. Kudos to Denver Water who dispatched staff at night to open and check the manhole and look for paw prints in the ditch, twice! Our cat, Smudge, was not there – so we knew she had to be somewhere in the middle of the drain pipe.

Next came Denver Fire  Department station # 30, who did not have to spend time helping anyone find their lost cat, but nevertheless did come and try to help because they had the time. They brought super strong flashlights and looked for her glowing eyes, and also met Denver Water at the manhole, at the other end. They called several resources on our behalf up to and including animal control centers or anyone that might be able to lend us a cage to set up and catch her should she come out later at night when things had quieted down. Not wanting to take up too much time, and to make sure resources are available for serious emergencies, they did everything they could for us, finally leaving us with some best practice advice for catching her, which we were fully prepared to do – (stay out all night at the entrance and wait for her to hopefully come out parentheses). We placed some of her dirty litter at the entrance as well as Tina and her favorite, shrimp!

As a last resort, we googled for a sewer line inspection service that used cameras to scope lines for various reasons. We were hoping one would come and help us by sending a camera into the drain so we could make sure she was still in there. The first place that came up was Down Low Services. Ian and his wife Brandy are some of the most empathetic and compassionate people we have ever met! Not only did they answer the phone late on a Saturday night, they are animal lovers who have and appreciate cats as well. When they heard our story, they offered to come out without delay and quickly found us at the storm drain entrance. They were so kind, patient and helpful. Their camera located Smudge at the 200’ mark. While Ian operated the camera scope, his wife Brandy ran back to me at the storm drain entrance and gave me updates. She told us Smudge ran even further away when she encountered the camera line, and ran all the way to the 300’ mark! This is what caused Denver Water’s second visit. Down Low Services offered to open the manhole cover because he carried that piece of equipment on his work truck, but we did call Denver Water first, who did dispatch someone out again to open it for us – poor Smudge was not there, but we knew she didn’t leave because it was full of about 7” of water and they could not see paw prints. Ian suggested reversing his line back out to see if he could locate her by going in reverse and he did! Smudge, afraid of the camera line, ran just ahead of the camera line all the way to the entrance, where we were so relieved to see her, and when she got close enough, I was able to grab her bedraggled, filthy kitty self, and put her in her carrier. We love her so much and we were so thrilled with Ian and Brandy‘s clever work with their camera scope, and their willingness to help strangers find their cat, at their business’s expense. They were there until 11 PM at night just determined ever to help rescue her, and they did! I cannot say enough good things about Ian, Brandy, and Down Low Services.. They did not even ask for payment, but of course, we wouldn’t have it and insisted on giving them some cash for not only answering the phone that late, but mostly for actually carrying enough to help two strangers in their cat late on a Saturday night.

Smudge the cat bolted out of my neighbor's door, ran around the neighborhood, and dove into a sewer pipe. While we were pretty sure she had gone into the pipe, we had no idea if Smudge was still in there or not. No luck luring her out with food and familiar voices. Called around looking for anyone with the CCTV equipment to go in and find Smudge. The Down Low folks drove over. Way outside their normal business/schedule. Absolutely a long shot and they answered the call.

Not only were they willing to come save Smudge, they are *very* good at their work and the gear was top notch. The robot got over 300 feet into that narrow pipe. There were Smudge's eyes looking back at us through the CCTV camera. They carefully moved along the entire length of that pipe. Luckily, the only other outlet was inaccessible to Smudge. After a lot of careful work, Smudge came out of that pipe, probably to get away from the robot as much as anything else :P

Also a shout out to Denver Water - the other end of the pipe was on their property. They checked their end of the line for us, gave us what info they could about the layout etc. All way outside their normal duties. Incredibly helpful.
